Harold Dean Pense

October 3, 1944 – November 22, 2023

Harold Dean Pense, beloved husband of Dorene, adored dad of Chad and Marc, loving father-in-law of Christy and Kendra, loved and adored grandpa of Taylor, Brett, Ryan, Jill and Madelyn and special Uncle to Sonya and Nick, passed away on November 22, 2023.

Harold was born on October 3, 1944, in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, to Wallace and Frances Leona Judd Pense Guild. After attending elementary and junior high school in Texas and Oklahoma, Harold graduated from Perry High School in Perry, Oklahoma, with the class of 1963. In February, 1965, Harold joined the Air Force Reserve. He was honorably discharged in 1971.

In September, 1965, he began employment with The Charles Machine Works or otherwise known as Ditch Witch, in Perry, Oklahoma. He worked as a production planner until he retired in December of 1998.

On January 29, 1966, he married Dorene Sands at the Church of the Nazarene in Cimarron, Kansas. His father-in-law never let him forget that he had to come to Kansas to get a girl and that he got married on Kansas Day.

Harold always felt that his greatest accomplishment in life was his sons, Chad and Marc. He loved gaining two daughters-in-laws. He lovingly said they were never going to be an in-law. When Chad married Christy and when Marc married Kendra, he was a happy dad. His happiness was not complete, though, because his greatest happiness to come would be when his grandchildren, Taylor, Brett, Ryan, Jill and Madelyn were born. His grandchildren were the absolute lights of his life.

Harold was a member of the Church of the Nazarene in Perry, Oklahoma. He served as church treasurer for forty-two years. He was an usher and he served on the church board. His love for missions was evident when he took a trip to Antigua and to the Dominica Republic to help build a church in each country. He always took an extra Bible with him so he could give one to someone who didn’t have one.

He was a member of the NRA. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping and cutting firewood. He also enjoyed reloading his own ammunition as well as reloading ammunition for his friends and family.

To watch one of his grandchildren participate in an activity was the ultimate enjoyment for him.

To serve his Lord and Savior was Harold’s desire in life.

Preceding him in death were his parents, his mother and father-in-law, his sister-in law and his brother-in law.

Memorials can be made to the Caribbean Missions in care of the Church of the Nazarene, 829 Jackson St, Perry, OK 73077.

A celebration of his life will be held at the Church of the Nazarene in Perry, Oklahoma, on Monday, November 27, at 1:00pm With Rev. Steve Smith officiating.
