August 3, 1929 – August 24, 2018

Glenn William Baker Jr., formerly a sixty year resident of Towanda, Kansas, passes away early Friday morning, August 24, 2018, in the Via Christi Village in Ponca City, Oklahoma, at the age of 89 years.

Glenn William Baker Jr. was born on August 2, 1929, in Cedar Point, Kansas, to Glenn “Bill” W. and Nellie P. Baker. He grew up in Kansas and attended Morse Country Elementary School before graduating from Matfield Green High School in 1948. He married his high school sweetheart Dolores “Dee” J. Deskines on December 24, 1948, in Emporia, Kansas. For thirty years he worked as an electrician and instrument technician for the Texaco Refinery in El Dorado, Kansas. Following retirement the couple moved to Ponca City to make their home. His wife preceded him in death on July 31, 2018. He was a member of the United Steelworkers Union #241. He also held membership in the Elk’s Lodge #2804 in Bullhead City, Arizona, for over twenty-five years. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, camping, grilling, square dancing, and going to Arizona to spend the winter. He also loved to tinker and fix various objects.

He is survived by a daughter, Kay Ericksen and husband Michael of Beavercreek, Ohio; a son, Neil Baker and wife Jan of Blackwell; a sister, Patty Dawson of Whitewright, Texas; four grandchildren, Kevin Baker of Blackwell, Kellee Brown and husband Nick of Jenks, Brian Davis and wife Laura of Mount Airy, Maryland, and Kendra Faul and husband Jeff of Brookshire, Texas; and six great grandchildren, Austin, Paxton and Sutton Brown, Madison and Noah Davis and Cora Faul.

He was also preceded in death by his parents; and two sons, Gregory Alan and Kent Arlo Baker.

A visitation for family and friends is scheduled for Monday, September 17th from 6:30 to 8:00 p.m. at Roberts and Son Funeral Home in Blackwell.

A memorial has been established in his honor with the Alzheimer’s Association in c/o Roberts and Son Funeral Home, 120 W. Padon, Blackwell, Oklahoma 74631.
