Gayle Evelyn Love of Blackwell, Oklahoma, died Monday morning, October 15, 2018, in the Hillcrest Manor Nursing Home in Blackwell at the age of 82 years.

Gayle Evelyn Love was born on March 27, 1936, in Ponca City, Oklahoma, to Frank Ernest and Lucille (Clover) Rixse. She attended St. Mary’s Catholic School and graduated in 1954. She furthered her education by attending Vernon’s Kansas School of Cosmetology in Wichita, Kansas. While in beauty school, she married Paul Ernest Love on June 7, 1957, in Ponca City and the settled in Wichita. Upon completion of beauty school, they moved to Blackwell where she operated as salon from her home, before opening Love and Company Salon until her retirement in 2005. Her husband preceded her in death in 2008 and she continued to make Blackwell her home. She was a member of the First Christian Church. She enjoyed camping and boating, listening to music and fall foliage tours. Her passion was that of an artist, as she created many oil paintings on canvas.

She is survived by her son, Jeff Love and wife Julie of Blackwell; a granddaughter, Taylor of Broken Arrow; and a great granddaughter.

She was also preceded in death by her parents; a sister, Dorothy Heagy; and a brother, Frankie Rixse.

Services are scheduled for 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, October 17th in the Roberts and Son Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Jeff Koch of the First Christian Church officiating. Burial will follow in the Longwood Cemetery in Ponca City.

A memorial has been established in her name with the Alzheimer’s Association in c/o Roberts and Son Funeral Home, 120 W. Padon, Blackwell, Oklahoma 74631.
