Freda Maxine Holmes

February 11, 1930 – April 21, 2021

Freda Maxine Holmes, age 91, of Ponca City, Oklahoma passed peacefully on April 21, 2021 at the home of her daughter and son-in-law, Mary Ann and Richard Drass, in Noble, Oklahoma.

A graveside service will be held at Odd Fellows Cemetery Chapel in Ponca City, OK on Tuesday, April 27th at 11 am. There will be no viewing. Maxine was born on February 11, 1930 in Grainola, Oklahoma to Fred and Alta (Acker) McConaghy. Maxine grew up on the family farm outside of Grainola, OK. She graduated from Grainola High School. At 5’2”, she played center on the successful Grainola girls basketball team. Maxine had an accounting firm for many years in Ponca City before retiring. She enjoyed her work immensely and particularly getting to know her valued clients. She was an avid flower gardener and enjoyed traveling, particularly three trips to Ireland and the town of Bush Mills from where the McConaghys emigrated to the US.

Survivors include: her daughter, Mary Ann Drass and her husband, Richard, of Noble, OK; and her beloved grandchildren Carly Sunshine Jetty of Thief River Falls, MN and her children Mikaela Suann and Jonathan Robert, Jassey Kyce Holmes of Ponca City, OK and his daughter Quinn Renee, and Shannon Cara Holmes of Ponca City. Daughters-in-law Delma Holmes and Karen Kubik Holmes were cherished friends.

Preceding in death were her son Jassey Holmes III, her parents, Fred and Alta McConaghy, and her brothers Carl and Ross.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the New Emergency Resource Agency, 112 S. 1st, Ponca City, OK 74601, www.nera-frc.org. The family would like to thank Doctor’s Park Home Health of Norman OK and Kindful Hospice for their attentive and kind care of Maxine.
