Frances Smith

(June 17, 1933 – March 11, 2016)

Frances Nell Smith of Ponca City, Oklahoma, passed away at Shawn Manor Nursing home on Friday, March 11, 2016 at the age of 82.

She was born on June 17, 1933, in Ponca City, Ok to H.O. and Dora Brown. Frances was married to Sandy Johnson in May of 1952. To that union was born a son, Steven Eugene Johnson. Later, she married Sonny Smith. She was employed at Humpty Dumpty Supermarket as a meat wrapper for many years. She was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary at the Moose Lodge in Ponca City. Her favorite pastime was spending time with family and friends.

She is survived by eight sisters, Sharon Hodges and husband Jack, Judy Fox, Jackie Schoonover, Edith Atkins, Betty Wright and husband Don, Willie Racho, Lena Auld, and Bessie Taylor and husband Ray, and two brothers, Otis Brown and wife Norma, and Jerry Brown, all of Ponca City.

She is preceded in death by her parents, H.O. and Dora Brown, her son Steve, her brothers, Bob, Bill, Richard, and David, and her sisters, JoAnne Crain and Elizabeth Dale.

There will be a family graveside service held at Resthaven Memorial Park on Tuesday, March 15, at 10:00 am. She will be available for viewing at Trout Funeral Home on Sunday, March 13, 2016, from 1 pm – 8 pm, and Monday, March 14, 2016, from 8 am – 8 pm.
