December 3, 1939 – June 17, 2023

Floyd Hodges Sherrod, III, 83, of Ponca City, OK, died in his home on Friday evening, June 17, 2023, after many years of illness. The family attended a private burial and a memorial service has not been planned. Arrangements were under the direction of Trout Funeral Home & Crematory, 505 W. Grand Ave, Ponca City, OK, 74601.

Floyd was born in Little Rock, Arkansas, to parents, Floyd H. Sherrod, Jr. and Catherine O. Sherrod, both deceased. He later moved to Phoenix in 1947, with his mother and dear step-father, Jordan Amerman (also deceased), older sister, Catherine (deceased) and younger brother, Stephen, who survives him. Floyd’s beloved wife, Marilyn is recently deceased. Other survivors include: daughter, Raquel and Chris of Kansas City; two sons, Floyd and Kimberly of Atlanta, Randall of Colorado Springs; brother, Brian and Belinda of Bridgeport, TX; sister, Nancy and David of Glendale, AZ; brother, Jordan of St. Petersburg, FL; four grandchildren, and Maria Sherrod, the mother of Floyd’s Children.

He attended West Phoenix High School, Phoenix College and Arizona State university. After leaving college, Floyd worked for several years in research and development at Motorola in Phoenix, before moving to National Semiconductor in California. He later entered the field of real estate in Durango, CO, is a former Vice-President of the La Plata County, CO Board of Realtors, and was active in several community service organizations. In real estate, Floyd focused on land sales and practiced as Principal Broker in both Colorado and Arizona.

Floyd was a deacon and former Treasurer of the First Presbyterian Church in Ponca City, OK. In Lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to The Eddy Cemetery Association, c/o Carissa Blevins, Treasurer, 3000 SW 62nd Street, Oklahoma City, OK, 73159.
