Obituary for Evelyn Culwell

Evelyn Lee Culwell went to be with the Lord on Friday, November 21, 2014 at the age of 95.

Evelyn was born June 9, 1919, in Cushing, Oklahoma to Omer and Edith Carrington. She was absolutely committed to her family, her faith and all whom needed her joyful heart. Evelyn had a keen wit and a dynamic sense of humor which always made her fun to be around. She got things done! The Carrington family moved from Cushing, Oklahoma to Ponca City when Evelyn was in the seventh grade. She graduated from Ponca City High School in 1937. She immediately began working for Conoco Oil Company as a typist at the young age of 16. Evelyn married Eugene Lee on December 25, 1940 in Ponca City, Oklahoma. Eugene preceded her in death in 1967 from a motorcycle accident. Also, preceded in death by her loving musical talented daughter Nancy Wilson of Bentonville, Arkansas on April 7, 2006. Preceded Evelyn were her parents, sister, Deloris Embry and brother Eldon Carrington.

She is survived by her son Darryl Lee of Bentonville, Arkansas; five grandchildren, and one step-grandson: Theresa Lee, Brett Lee, Shelly Lee, Randy Wilson, Rob Wilson, Ryan Schwanke, six great grandchildren: Meagan, Alex, Landon, Tyler, McKyayla, and Cooper. Evelyn is survived by several loving nieces and a nephew mostly from the Tulsa, Oklahoma area.

Evelyn married Robert (Bob) Culwell in 1977 and she became a step-mother to Diane Culwell of Dallas, Texas and Martha Schwanke of Marland, Oklahoma. She loved her secretary position at West Jr. High School in Ponca City, Oklahoma for many years. After retiring from the Ponca City School District, she and Bob traveled extensively. Bob passed away in 2008. Her son, Darryl said, "His Mom lived a happy and full life and if she had it to do over again she would not change a thing."

The family wishes to express love and appreciation to Dixie Lee for her generous time commitment for Evelyn her sister-in-law and care giver. Also, including a dear friend Dixie Chapman. Evelyn was a woman of strong faith and a life member of the Albright United Methodist Church. Visitation with family and friends will be at 9:00 a.m. Wednesday, November 26, 2014 at Trout Funeral Home.

Funeral services will be at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, November 26, 2014 at Trout Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Scott Spencer officiating. Burial will follow at Oddfellows Cemetery in Ponca City, Oklahoma.Casket Bearers will be Steve Lee, Brett Lee, Rob Wilson, Randy Wilson, David Miller, and Steve Schwanke. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Trout Funeral Home.
