Erma Jean Parker

Erma Jean Parker of Braman, Oklahoma, died Saturday afternoon, June 3, 2017, in the Blackwell Regional Hospital at the age of 88 years.

Erma Jean Parker was born on June 13, 1928, in Polk County, Arkansas, to William Ode and Oda Melinda (Sanders) Wiles. She grew up in Arkansas and graduated from Acorn High School in Mena, Arkansas. She married Benjamin Franklin Parker on February 28, 1953, in Odessa, Texas. She worked sewing in the Shirt Factory in Mena before working as a waitress in Raton, New Mexico, and Odessa, Texas. The family later moved to Braman to make their home and she worked many years as a waitress at the Oklahoman Restaurant in Braman. Her husband preceded her in death on December 21, 1972, and she continued to make Braman her home. She was a member of the Braman Methodist Church.

She is survived by two sisters, Clarene Ward of Mena, Arkansas, and Cora Ann Bolton of Rockaway Beach, Missouri; a brother, Ralph Wiles of Mena, Arkansas; and several nieces and nephews.

She was also preceded in death by a son, Larry Dean, who was killed in a repelling accident in 1978; her parents; a brother, Warren Wiles; and a sister, Eula Dean Wolfenbarger.

Services are scheduled for 11:00 a.m., Thursday, June 8th in the Braman Methodist Church with Rev. Trish Harris officiating. Burial will follow in the Braman Cemetery.

A memorial has been established in her honor with the Braman Methodist Church in c/o Roberts and Son Funeral Home, 120 W. Padon, Blackwell, Oklahoma 74631.
