Elsie Euvon Vannote

Elsie Euvon Vannote of Blackwell, Oklahoma, died Wednesday evening, November 15, 2017, in the Blackwell Regional Hospital at the age of 86 years.

Elsie Euvon Vannote was born on December 5, 1930, in Blackwell to Johnie Wesley and Edith May (Overholt) Bonham. She grew up in Blackwell and attended Blackwell Public Schools. Following her education she married Edward L. Vannote in June of 1952 in Blackwell and the couple owned and operated Whitey’s Bar in Newkirk. She later began working in housekeeping at Hillcrest Manor Nursing Home and retired as head of housekeeping. Her husband preceded her in death on August 16, 2013, and she continued to make Blackwell her home. She enjoyed playing cards and working puzzle books.

She is survived by two daughters, Mary Sherrill of Blackwell and Euvon Simmons of Buna, Texas; six grandchildren; sixteen great grandchildren; and three great great grandchildren.

She was also preceded in death by her parents; and a son, Wesley Vannote.

Graveside services are scheduled for 10:00 a.m., Monday, November 20th in the Blackwell Cemetery.

Casketbearers will be Sean Brown, Walter Simmons, Terry Brown and Carl Simmons.
