Elbert “Junior” Dixon of Blackwell, Oklahoma, died Wednesday morning, May 2, 2018, in the Hillcrest Manor Nursing Home at the age of 85 years.

Elbert “Junior” Dixon was born on March 4, 1933, in Morris, Oklahoma, to Wilton William and Clara Leslie (Bandy) Dixon. He grew up in eastern Oklahoma and graduated from Liberty High School in 1952. He married Erma Ruth McDaniel on June 1, 1952, and they settled in the Morris area. They moved to Blackwell in 1955 to make their home. Junior began working at the Blackwell Zinc Company before beginning a thirty-eight years career as a letter carrier with the United States Postal Service. He married Mona June Davis on September 10, 1988, in Blackwell. He retired from the Postal Service in 1992. He was a member of the Immanuel Baptist Church and the Masonic Lodge in Blackwell. He enjoyed watching the Oklahoma City Thunder and the Atlanta Braves. His two greatest passions were playing golf and his family, especially his grandchildren and great grandchildren.

He is survived by his wife, Mona Dixon of Blackwell; a daughter, E. Denise Felber and husband Neil of Tulsa; a son, Raymond Dixon and wife Rebecca of Pekin, Illinois; a step-daughter, Ronda Cavanaugh and husband Ronnie of Blackwell; two sisters, Edna Edwards and husband Harold and Kay Whomble; two brothers, Jamie Dixon and wife Glenda and J. C. Dixon and wife Mary; seven grandchildren, Jennifer Harshman and husband Thomas of Lewisville, Texas, Holly Earleson and husband Jeff of Morton, Illinois, Morgan Thompson and husband Jonathon of Oklahoma City, Amanda Felber of Topeka, Kansas, Sarah Felber of Topeka, Kansas, Shawn Cavanaugh and wife Kortni of Stillwater, and Curtis Cavanaugh and wife Jessi of Ponca City; and ten great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; four sisters, Pauline Miller, Nadine Hill, Ruby Ledford and June Delaughder; and a brother, Doyle Dixon.

Services are scheduled for 1:30 p.m., Friday, May 4th in the Immanuel Baptist Church in Blackwell with Rev. Matt Smith officiating. Burial will follow in the Blackwell Cemetery.

Casketbearers will be Shawn Cavanaugh, Jonathon Thompson, Jeff Earleson, Lenny DeBoard and Roger Clark. Serving as honorary casketbearers will be Jennifer Harshman, Holly Earleson, Morgan Thompson Ronnie Cavanaugh and Curtis Cavanaugh.
