January 20, 1935 – March 14, 2019

Donald McKain, Sr., resident of Ponca City, passed away on Thursday March 14, 2019. He was 84 years old. Donald was born on January 20, 1935 in Ponca City, Oklahoma to his parents, Homer Errett McKain and Elizabeth Barbara (Crigger) McKain. Donald grew up in Ponca City and graduated with the Class of 1953. He married Carolyn Mae Davenport in Ponca City on November 20, 1953.

Donald’s hobbies included fishing, gardening, and spending time with family. Donald was a long time member of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers LU 444.

Donald was preceded in death by his wife, Carolyn McKain, one infant child, Cheryl Lynn McKain, his parents, Homer and Elizabeth McKain, and sister, Wanda McKain-Bishop.

Survivors include his brother, Homer McKain, of Houston, sister Darlene McAlister, of Ponca City, daughter Portia & JD Walker, of Jenks, daughter Carrie & Chris Cooper of Bartlesville, son Don & Annetta McKain of Wichita, KS, son Troy & Renea McKain, of Ponca City, son Jim & Lorrine McKain, of Blackwell, 7 grandkids, Forrest & Sally Walker of Edmond, Brooke Walker of Mukawao, Hawaii, Christy & Fernando Olivas of Wichita KS, Clay & Ziva Cooper of Dewey, Kayla McKain of Ponca City, Mary Beth McKain of Newkirk, Haleigh McKain of Ponca City, and 9 great grandkids.

Viewing for Donald will be held at Trout Funeral Home on Monday, March 18th from 5-8 pm and on Tuesday, March 19th from 8am to 8pm. Family will be available to greet friends on Tuesday evening from 6-7pm.

A funeral ceremony for Donald will be held at 10:00 am on Wednesday, March 20, 2019 at the Trout Funeral Home Chapel. Following the ceremony, he will be laid to rest next to his wife at Resthaven Memorial Park.

Casketbearers will be: Troy McKain, Jim McKain, Don McKain, Jr., Jeff Mazurier, Clay Cooper, and Forrest Walker.
