Obituary for Donald Goff

Donald Lavern (Tub) Goff, age 85, of Blackwell, Oklahoma, passed away on Thursday, October 30, 2014. Graveside services will be held at Mt. Olive Cemetery in Nardin, Oklahoma, at 3:00 p.m., Saturday, November 1st with services under the direction of Roberts and Son Funeral Home.

Don was born in Deer Creek, Oklahoma, on November 7, 1928, to Olin Earnest and Genevieve Ruth (Waldie) Goff. He graduated from Deer Creek High School and continued on to receive a Bachelors’ Degree in Secondary Education from Northwestern Oklahoma State University, in Alva, Oklahoma. Don went on to complete a Masters’ Degree, being among the first class to receive a graduate degree in Guidance and Counseling from Oklahoma State University.

Donald was married to Patty Ann (Ganer) Goff on February 26, 1949, in Pawhuska, Oklahoma; they were married for sixty-four years. The couple had five children known to many as the 5-K’s; Kelly, Kirk, Krista, Kim and King.

The journey of life allowed Don/Tub many opportunities and career paths: He would say “I’ve been a bus driver, janitor, college football player, plumber, propane delivery driver, oil rig hand (platform and derrick), student, frame maker, teacher, coach, counselor, principal, superintendent, farmer, oil man, land man, camper, fisherman, golfer, traveler, husband and dad in my lifetime.”

Donald is survived by a sister, Kay (Goff) Merriman and husband Gene; children, Kelly Lee Goff and wife Wilberta, Kirk Lavern Goff and wife Niki, Krista (Goff) Perkins and husband Mike, Kim (Goff) White and husband Glen, and King Goff and wife Claudia; grandchildren, Kirstyn Davis, Shayla Walker, Kahle Goff, Clayton Goff, Jason White, Kasey Goff, Kris Perkins, Jay Goff, Amanda Salazar, Haley Newman, Ross Goff, Emily Ross, Dakota York and Gatlin York; and twenty-six great grandchildren and other family and friends.

Donald was preceded in death by his wife, Patty Ann; his parents, Olin and Jennie Goff; and brothers, Robert Edward and Lee Olin Goff.
