Donald, known to some as Andy, was born on March 24, 1970, in Bristow, OK, to his parents, Don and Elizabeth Sloan. They moved to Fairfax, OK, when he was a small child and lived there until he graduated from Fairfax High School. Andy was very active in football, weightlifting, and track throughout high school. He was an All-Star on the 1988 All-State football team, and had a full scholarship to ECU in Ada to play football. Andy met his wife, Sherry, while attending high school and they married in 1989; at which time they moved to Arkansas City, KS. Andy went to work for the Kansas State Department of Corrections in Winfield, KS, in 1992.

Andy and Sherry decided to make the move from Kansas back to Oklahoma where he would start a 23 year career as a Ponca City Police Sergeant. During those years, he proudly served as a S.W.A.T team member, FTO, and Domestic Violence Liaison. When he retired from the Ponca City Police Department in 2020, he eventually went to work for the Kaw Nation Police Department where he was currently employed at the time of his passing. Andy’s greatest love in life was spending time with his family and grandchildren. One of the hobbies he enjoyed most was restoring muscle cars. He was a loyal fan of OU football, as everyone knew.

He is survived by: his wife, Sherry Sloan; his two daughters, Brittney Sloan (Jose) of Ponca City, OK, and Tara Sloan (Matt) of Wichita, KS; his grandchildren, Rylan and Arya Martinez. He is also survived by: his sister, Deena Blanco; step-brother, Sean Brown; step-sister, Misty; and half-sisters, Jennifer and Jessica. He was proceeded in death by: his father, Don Sloan, Sr.; his mother, Elizabeth Johnson; and his two aunts, Normie and Mary.

He was a brother in arms to many and has made lasting friendships and will be missed by all who loved him. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be sent to New Life Trails, RE: Don Sloan Memorial Fund, 3420 Kingston Rd, Ponca City, OK 74601 or newlifetrails.org.
