Delphia Fern Sowers

(May 6, 1925 – November 19, 2017)

Delphia Fern Sowers of Blackwell, Oklahoma, died Sunday afternoon, November 19, 2017, in the Hillcrest Manor Nursing Home at the age of 92 years.

Delphia Fern Sowers was born on May 6, 1925, in Dilworth, Oklahoma, and attended Braman Public Schools graduating with the class of 1943. She married Ernest E. Sowers of June 9, 1947, in Ponca City. She worked at the Hazel-Atlas Glass Plant until 1955 when she began attending beauty school. Upon completion of her cosmetology license in 1956, she owned and operated her own salon for thirty-five years retiring in 1988. Following retirement she worked during the winter months at the Daylight Donut Shop and for Glen Echo Resorts in Colorado during the summer. She was a member of the First Christian Church in Blackwell.

A private graveside service was held Tuesday morning, November 21st in the Braman Cemetery with Rev. Jeff Koch of the First Christian Church officiating.

A memorial has been established in her honor with the First Christian Church in c/o Roberts and Son Funeral Home, 120 W. Padon, Blackwell, Oklahoma 74631.
