May 21, 1954 – April 16, 2018

Dave Fleharty, longtime Ponca City resident passed away Monday morning in Tulsa, OK at the Oklahoma Heart Institute with his family by his side. He was 63 years of age. Dave was born on May 21, 1954 in Ponca City to John and Aline Blackorbay Fleharty.

Memorial services will be held 2 p.m. Wednesday, April 18, 2018 in the Grace Memorial Chapel with Chaplin Mike Sweetman officiating. Memorial contributions may be made in his name to Kay County Shriners or the Hospitality House at Oklahoma Heart Institute in Tulsa.

Dave graduated from PO high in 1972 and he attended college at NOC and later attended technical school where he trained as a Pipefitter Boilermaker. He worked at Caterpillar of Tulsa and for Conoco in Ponca City for several years until he decided to make a career change for himself and went to work as an exterminator in Kay county and later opened his own Pest Control Service until ill health forced him to retire. Dave lived for his Grandsons and spent as much time as he could with them. He also enjoyed hunting and fishing. Dave was a member of the Masonic Lodge for 35 years and at the time of his death he was president of the Kay County Shriners and for years he played Santa Claus to Shriner Kids and foster kids in Kay County.

Survivors include his wife of 45 years Debby of the home; 1 son; David Fleharty II and Cheryl Vanderslice of Palestine, TX 1 daughter; Heather Spears and husband David of Ponca City, OK, 3 grandsons: Brock Chavez, Brody Fleharty and Jackson Spears. Also surviving are numerous cousins, nieces and nephews as well as a special Aunt Rosetta Burdine with whom he shared a birthday.

Dave was preceded in death by his parents, geandparents, and 1 brother; Stephen Fleharty.
