Cecil H. Hollingsworth

August 25, 1925 – October 30, 2015

Cecil H. Hollingsworth, longtime area rancher, passed Friday, October 30, 2015 at the AllianceHealth Ponca City Medical Center. He was 90 years of age.

Cecil was born August 25, 1925 in Waynoka, Oklahoma, the son of Tom and Flecie Hollingsworth. He attended the Arkansas City, Kansas schools. Cecil married Shirley Ann Bacher in May of 1951 at Uncas, Oklahoma with the couple making their home in rural Newkirk. The couple had been married 62 years at Shirley’s passing in 2013. In his earlier years Cecil plumbed houses for Houser Hardware of Newkirk before beginning a farming and ranching operation. He retired from the farming and ranching in 1997 and became active in many other things. Cecil and Shirley had three sons, David, Joe and Scott. The sons remained on the farm, operating it until 2008.

Cecil enjoyments included spending time with his grandchildren and great grandchildren, talking about his ranching days, telling stories of his youth and of his kids growing up on the ranch. He also enjoyed solving puzzles and taking drives back to the Shidler area where he ranched most of his life.

He is survived by his three sons, David Hollingsworth, Joe Hollingsworth and wife Darla, and Scott Hollingsworth, all of Ponca City; one sister, Mildred Hicks and husband Tom, of Broken Arrow; five grandchildren, Dr. Ashley Muckala and husband Erick, of Edmond, Oklahoma, Dustin Hollingsworth and wife Sarah, of Ponca City, Rhea Anna Wiechman and husband Josh, of Wichita, Kansas, Cameron Hollingsworth, Farmington, New Mexico and Daak Love and wife Amber, of Ponca City; numerous great grandchildren; other extended family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife Shirley; three brothers, Lee, Forrest and Frank Hollingsworth; and two great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, November 4, 2015 at Grace Memorial Chapel with Rev. Dennis Wildman presiding.
