Obituary for Carroll Kihega

Carroll Elton Kihega, of Tonkawa, died Aug. 30, 2015, in Blackwell.

Born Jan. 5, 1940, to Richard G. and Bernice (Saunders) Kihega in Pawnee, he graduated from Red Rock High School and, later, from Northern Oklahoma College, Tonkawa.

He married Karen Isbell and they had two children, Andrea and Randy. He later married Nancy G. Sands and they had four children, Lisa, Darryl, Darren and Kendall. He was and X-ray technician and became an RN, working at Indian Health Service before retiring.

He loved his family and was very proud of his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by both his parents, one brother, Roger, and one son, Randy.

He is survived by his children, Andrea Kihega of Waukomis; Lisa and husband Jim Grant of Ponca City; Darrell and wife Jamie Kihega of Tonkawa; Darren Kihega of Claremore; and Kendall Kihega of Claremore; grandchildren, Kary White of Tulsa, Robyn Burnett of Lahoma, Katie White Nichols of Waukomis, Jennifer Lamb-Tehee of Owasso, Loren Lamb of Oaks, Dennis "Buddy" Lamb of Oaks, Skylar Kihega, Sierra Kihega of Jenks, Shelby Kihega of Jenks and 2 great-grandsons and 3 great-granddaughters.

A traditional feast will be held at the Otoe-Missouria Cultural Center on Wednesday September 2, 2015 at 12:00 pm. The funeral service for Mr. Kihega will follow with burial in Otoe-Missouria Tribal Cemetery in Red Rock, OK. Arrangements under the direction of Trout Funeral Home & Crematory.
