Obituary for Carol VanArsdale

Ponca City Now - December 12, 2017 3:05 pm

Carol S. VanArsdale

January 2, 1951 – December 11, 2017

Carol Sue “Osborne” VanArsdale entered the world January 2nd, 1951 in Ponca City, Oklahoma to Robert and Pauline Osborne and departed to eternal glory December 11th, 2017. She is preceded in death by her parents. She is survived by her husband Harold Leslie (H.L.), daughter Sarah and husband Jarod Payne of Ponca City, and son Robert and wife Cassie VanArsdale of Houston, Texas. She is also survived by her beautiful 5 grandchildren and her two sweet dogs Thomas and Teddy.

According to her best friend Brenda, Carol had some hidden talents “BK” (before kids). Her father owned a bowling alley growing up and she wasn’t afraid to show off her skills with her friends. She participated in the Ponca City Garden club and various church functions. She was a God fearing Christian woman and all who knew her, loved her.

In 1969 Carol married her lifelong husband Leslie VanArsdale. Together, they built a life based on faith and love. She was always a miraculous woman. Carol had an amazing heart and so much love to give. In 1985 she and Leslie adopted their first child Sarah and again in 1987 they were blessed with their second child Robert. Over the years Carol offered amazing support to her children. She lived her life to the fullest, she loved unconditionally. She was patient, kind, and had a genuine heart of gold. She was selfless.

Her children gave her great joy, and when they were grown they gave her the greatest blessings. Christopher Payne, Caleb Payne, Kailee Payne, Jimmie Payne by daughter Sarah VanArsdale Payne and husband Jarod of Ponca City and most recently sweet Ellie VanArsdale by son Robert and wife Cassie VanArsdale of Houston Texas.

Over the years Carol was a devoted wife, home-schooling mom, doting grandma and overall amazing support person. The void she leaves can never be filled, but the memories we have of her will never fade.

A memorial service will be held for Carol at 11 a.m. December 15th, 2017 at Brookfield Wesleyan Church in Ponca City, Oklahoma. Pastor Mark Busch will be the officiant. Please send flowers to Brookfield Wesleyan Church, 303 E Brookfield Ave. if possible, please deliver Friday morning. There will be a dinner following the service at 2513 Mockingbird Lane, Ponca City, Oklahoma.
