Betty Jean Sikes

May 23, 1929 – January 14, 2019

Betty Jean Sikes passed away on Monday, January 14, 2019 in Wichita Falls, Texas. She was 89 years old. Betty was born on May 23, 1929 in Ada, Oklahoma to her parents, Albert Lloyd Owens and Belvie (Lee) Owens. She was lucky enough to find the love of her life early in life and married Ray Sikes in Ada, Oklahoma on August 2, 1948. They were just shy of their 50th wedding anniversary when Ray passed away.

Her meticulous mind had a way with numbers that allowed her to be an excellent bookkeeper for Roger A. Smith Plumbing in Ponca City for twenty years. Betty lived a life where God came first and family second. She was deeply devoted to her faith as well as her family. They were the absolute most important things in her life. Betty loved to cook and brought everyone together with family meals. The more the merrier! She was a loving mother but also a stickler as everything had to be in its place and just right.

Betty is survived by her daughters, Cheryl Johnson and husband Donald of Seymour, Texas and Lisa Brown and husband Richard of Ponca City, grandchildren, Derek Johnson and wife Bonnee of Norman, Oklahoma, Donnie Johnson and wife Donna of Allen, Texas, Ryan Lee Brown of Edmond, Oklahoma, Rachel Brown of Tonkawa, great-grandchildren, Campbell Johnson of Norman, Oklahoma, Grace Johnson of Allen, Texas, McKenna Johnson of Allen, Texas, sisters, Shirley Stewart and husband Tom of Tulsa, Oklahoma and Judy Breese of Bentonville, Arkansas, brother, Jimmy Don Owens and wife Betty of Ada, Oklahoma, sister, Recie Mitchusson of Roland, Oklahoma, brother, Troy Owens and wife Nancy of Miami, Oklahoma, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

Betty was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Ray Sikes, sister, Lucille Hackworth, brother, Billy Owens, and sister, Wanda Walker.

A funeral ceremony to remember a wonderful woman will be held at 2:00 pm on Friday, January 25, 2019 at Trout Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Robert Montgomery officiating. Following the ceremony, she will be laid to rest next to her husband at Resthaven Memorial Park.
