Obituary for Betty Sears

Betty “Nana” Simmons Sears 86, Longtime Shidler resident changed her address to be with her Savior Jesus Christ on May 22, 2015 at her daughter’s home near Shidler. Nana was born on February 12, 1929 in Webb City, OK to Sidney W. and Ada Rush Vaden.

Funeral Services will be held 2 p.m. Tuesday May 26, 2015 at the Webb City Church of God in Webb City, OK with Pastor Douglas Scott and Pastor Matt Smith officiating. Interment will follow in the Grandview Cemetery Kaw City, OK with arrangements under the direction of Grace Memorial Chapel of Ponca City, OK.

Casket bearers are Mike Smith, Joe Vogele, Butch Harmon, Todd Wilhelm, Austin Vogele and Charley Garrison. Honorary casket bearers are Craig Schatz and Tom Harrington.

Nana grew up in the Shidler area and attended the Webb City and Shidler School system. She married Andrew D. Simmons on October 5, 1946 and they established the family homestead in Shidler. He preceded her in death on May 7, 2008. She later married S.D. Sears a childhood friend and they made their home in Shidler also and he preceded her in death September 23, 2013. She was a Charter member of the Webb City Church of God. Nana enjoyed being a Housewife cooking for her family and working side by side with her husband Andrew on the family homestead raising their family and cattle. Nana also worked Part time for Grace Memorial Chapel / Shidler Chapel greeting family for Visitations.

Survivors include: 1 Daughter; Janie Robinson and husband Richard of Shidler; 1 Sister; Joyce McManus and husband Dale of Bartlesville, OK 2 granddaughters: Andrea Schatz and husband Craig of Hobbs, NM and Leann Culp Harrington and husband Tom of Vilonia, AR. 4 great grandchildren; Caleb Schatz, Bri Schatz, Michaela Culp and Brittany Culp. Also surviving are 1 niece; Kimberly Foster and 2 Nephews; Mike Smith and Robert Smith and many other nieces and nephews from the Simmons family.

Besides her husbands, Betty was preceded in death by her Parents, and 2 brothers.
