Betty Ann Myers

May 1, 1932 – December 11, 2021

Betty Ann Myers was born May 1, 1932 to John Pete and Media Belle Neely in Tonkawa, Oklahoma. She grew up in the Big Bend area in Osage County, Oklahoma. She was the second born of ten children, four brothers: the late Marvin Neely, the late James (Ellen) Neely, the late Chuck Neely and the late Johnny Neely and five sisters: the late Ruby (Dean) Cauthon, the late Pat (Jimmy Don) Brown, Joyce (Shelby) Epperson of Republic, Mo, Linda (Ike) Arnold of Ponca City, OK, and Pam (James) Savage of Blackwell, OK She married Harry “Tex” Myers on September 16, 1958. Over the years they made their home together in California, Texas, and Colorado, before settling in Ponca City, Oklahoma. Together they had four children, Jeannie (Terry) Burns of Ponca City, OK, Shelly (Jack) Shears of Ponca City, OK, Harry Myers of Ponca City, OK and Melissa (Fred) Birkett of Peculiar, MO.

She was a joyful woman of God who spent most of her professional and personal life serving others. Betty was a waitress for various restaurants in Ponca City and spent the latter part of her working life with Conoco. She was a devoted member of Faith Tabernacle Church in Ponca City, OK.

She was the proud grandmother to 8 grandchildren: Terra Burns of Ponca City, OK, Monica Pratt of Ponca City, OK, Bruce (Laci) Burns of Victoria, TX, Tanner (Elizabeth) Eckler of Owasso, OK, Christopher McGee of Ponca City, OK, Brooke Birkett of Rolla, MO, Breanna Birkett of Belton, MO, and Gavin Birkett of Peculiar, MO. She had 11 great-grandchildren, Cole Burns, Caleb Burns, Chesnee Pratt, Cooper Pratt, Eli Eckler, Corbin Eckler, Devin Burns, Aubrey Burns, Katelyn Burns, Madyson Burns, and Macey Burns.

‘Bouncing Betty’, as her family lovingly called her, enjoyed the simple things of life like making homemade chicken and noodles, pumpkin bread, and milkshakes. She enjoyed vegetable gardening, playing Yahtzee and Dominos with her family, and putting together jigsaw puzzles with her grandkids. She was truly devoted to faith and family. She always said “If there be anything good, look upon the good”. She was the eternal optimist. She spent her life serving others and leaves behind a legacy of family and friends that she loved dearly.

There will be a viewing at Trout Funeral Home on Wednesday, December 15, 2021 from 4-8 pm for all whom wish to attend. A service celebrating her life will be held on Thursday, December 16, 2021 at 2:00 pm at Faith Tabernacle Church in Ponca City, OK. Friends and family are encouraged to attend. Following will be a graveside service at Fairfax Cemetery.
