Betty Lou Engle, resident of Ponca City, passed away on Thursday, September 5, 2019. She was 93 years old.

A graveside ceremony for Betty Lou will be held on Monday, September 9, 2019 at 10:00 am at the Union Cemetery in Billings, Oklahoma. Arrangements are under the direction of Trout Funeral Home & Crematory.

Betty Lou was born in Garber, Oklahoma on January 7, 1926 to her parents, Guy and Dora (Gatten) Weaver. She was raised in the Garber area graduating from Garber High School. She left home to work at the Tinker Air Force Base for a short while before her father needed her help on the family farm. She married Jack C. Engle on March 16, 1946 in Billings, Oklahoma where they established their first home. The family moved to Ponca City in 1955 where Betty raised her family.

Betty was part of the 55 and older club and enjoyed playing cards with the group for many years. She also taught Sunday School at Liberty Baptist. Betty enjoyed crocheting, reading, fishing and doing puzzles especially crossword puzzles.

Betty Lou is survived by her daughter, Judy Johnston, son, Ray Engle and wife Janice, and son, Larry Engle, many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren as well a host of nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Jack Engle, and one sister, Donna Moore.
