Obituary for Barbara Skinner

Barbara Susan Skinner, resident of Ponca City, passed away December 15, 2014 at her home. She was 74.

A Graveside Service will be held at 2:00 pm, December 18, 2014 at the Resthaven Memorial Park with Chaplain Mike Sweetman of Hospice of North Central Oklahoma officiating. Casketbearers will be Jimmy Alexander, Brandon, Altman, Zack Wade, Matthew Skinner, Jonathan Skinner, and Chase Cornett. Honorary casketbearers will be her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Arrangements are under the direction of Trout Funeral Home & Crematory.

Barbara was born on September 5, 1940 to Charles Edmond Bell and Millie Lee MacMannis Bell in Mounds, Oklahoma. She was raised around the oil fields finishing high school in Arkansas City in 1958. On February 14, 1961, in Newkirk, Oklahoma she married Thomas A.B. Skinner, Jr. with whom she had five children. Barbara enjoyed writing poetry, reading books, listening to Elvis Presley, doing crossword puzzles, spending time with her family and her many dogs. She was well known to spend much time finding the perfect humorous birthday card to send to family members on their birthdays, many of whom would reciprocate and send a funny one to her, too. She will be greatly missed by those that loved her.

Survivors include her daughter, Susan Altman and husband Alan of Ponca City; sons: Thomas A. Skinner of Tulsa, OK; Elliot Skinner and wife Karen of Ponca City; Everett Skinner and wife Lori of Midwest City, Oklahoma; and Vincent Skinner of Blackwell; siblings: Lorene Gildhouse of Checotah, Oklahoma; Paul Bell and wife Lucille of Checotah, Oklahoma; Joyce Lampe of Checotah, Oklahoma; Basel Bell of Checotah, Oklahoma; seven grandchildren; and three great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, siblings: Bertie Alexander and Sonny Bell, and niece, Linda Perez.
