April 21, 1957 – December 10, 2021

Aston Anthony Sang, 64, of Ponca City, OK, passed away on December 10th,2021 after a valiant battle with cancer. He passed away peacefully surrounded by his wife, children and sister. A Funeral Ceremony will be held at 2:30 PM, Tuesday December 14, 2021 at Trout Funeral Home in Grand Ave in Ponca City followed by a burial at Resthaven Memorial Park. Tony was born on April 21, 1957 to Vincent Percival & Irene Gloria Sang in Jamaica. After graduating High School in Jamaica he emigrated to United States to work for Cupid Intimate Apparel in Blackwell, OK. He also worked for Maidenform, Strath Addler, Playtex and Sara Lee.

In 2000 he met the love of his life Cathy during a business trip to Puerto Rico. They married in 2002 and established their home in Ponca City, OK. After retiring in 2011, Tony followed his first passion of teaching martial arts and opened a dojo in Ponca City, teaching hundreds of students in Oklahoma.

Shihan Anthony Sang was an 8th Degree Black Belt Instructor with decades of accomplishments in the study and practice of traditional Japanese style karate. He began his training in Kingston, Jamaica and was introduced to one of the strongest Karate styles of today’s Martial Arts, Kyokushin Kai Kan Karate.

He advanced through the ranks and achieved his Black Belt in 1975 at the age of 18. Continuing his studies with Seido Karate, at age 21 he became one of the youngest students in Jamaica to earn the rank of Shodan, 1st Degree Black Belt. In 1981 Shihan Sang continue his training directly with Seido Karate Grandmaster & Founder Tadashi Nakamura.

Tony is survived by his wife Cathy Sang of Ponca City, OK and three children; Caitlin, Aston and Anthony Sang. Siblings and their spouses; Karlene and Carl Grey of Winter Garden, FL, Carole Sang of Laurelton, NY, Dorothy and Lee Boodram of Markham, Ontario Canada, Barbara Sang of Queens, NY and Andrea and Jose Melendez of Grand Island, NY. And many nieces and nephews.

Tony was greeted in heaven by his parents Vincent and Gloria Sang as well as his brother Vincent Sang.

Pallbearers will be Aston Sang, Roberto Zeledon, Anthony O’Meally, Soki Newton James and Shihan Bill Mays and Officer Clayton Smith.
