Anna Virginia Veal

October 12, 1923 – July 29, 2017

Anna Virginia Crout Veal passed away July 29, 2017 in Ponca City. She was 93.

She was born October 12, 1923 in Denton, Texas to Mardie Everet and Florence Hendrix Crout. She was united in marriage to J. D. Veal on May 11th, 1946 in Denton, Texas.

Mrs. Veal was a homemaker and was employed at Jaunita’s Candles, Flowers, and Gift Shop for 15 years. She was a substitute teacher at Guymon High School for six years.

After graduation from Denton High School in 1939, she received a B.A. degree in Business Education from North Texas State Teachers College ( NTSU) in 1943.

An active member of Victory Memorial United Methodist Church, she was a Sunday School teacher, a member of the UMW (Joy Circle) holding a Life Membership.

On her life’s journey, she served as a Girl Scout leader and President of the Travis Elementary Parent Teacher’s Association in El Paso, Texas and holds a life membership in the PTA.
An active member in Paul’s Scarlet Garden Club, she served as President and other offices.

Her hobbies were gardening, sewing, and crafts.

Both parents, husband J.D., brother, Jack D. Crout, and one grandson, James Edward Scovill, preceded her in death.

Survivors include one sister, Elizabeth Jane Crout Vaughn of Broken Arrow, Ok, three children, Virginia Ann Veal of Ponca City, Ok, Dona Cathleen Veal Scovill and husband Edward James Scovill of Stillwater, OK, and Linda Leigh Veal Parham and husband Jim Parham of Perry, OK. Surviving grandchildren are Jason Steen Parham of Morrison, OK, Leighann Grace Parham Snook and husband Jesse Snook of Oklahoma City, OK, Jennifer Cathleen and Russell Collier Scovill of Stillwater, OK, and two step-grandchildren, Layne Marie Sargent and husband Jared Sargent of Stillwater, CO and their children Aiden and Benjamin Sargent, and Alex Scovill and his wife Sarah Scovill of Stillwater, OK.

Final burial will be in Decatur, Texas, at Oaklawn Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Victory Memorial United Methodist Church Children’s Ministries, 523 N Roosevelt St, Guymon, OK 73942, Hospice of North Central Oklahoma 445 Fairview Ave., Ponca City, OK 74601, or a charity of choice.
