(October 21, 1964 – December 11, 2016)

Amy Boyd, of Ponca City, died Sunday morning, December 11, 2016; in her home, at the age of 52.

Amy was born on October 21, 1964, in Denver, CO; the daughter of Floyd and Sandra Cook. She attended Denver public schools and graduated in 1982. She also received nurse’s training in Kansas City, KS and enjoyed a career as a medical assistant for doctor’s offices in Kansas City and also Urgent Care and Family Practice here in Ponca City.

She married Robert Boyd and he preceded her in death in February 2016.

She enjoyed music of all types, but especially classic rock, Metallica and her son’s band Shadowcast. She enjoyed spending time outdoors and fishing, camping and S.C.U.B.A. diving. She made many trips with her family and friends to lakes in the region as well as places in the Caribbean and South America to do these things. She loved animals of all types and kept many dogs and cats as close pets. She always had a fish aquarium in the house. Amy loved to landscape and keep flower and vegetable gardens. She incorporated water gardens and koi ponds into her landscaping and was very fond of her fish.

Other hobbies included photography, crocheting and cooking. Amy kept several photo albums and keepsakes of family and friends from throughout the years. She enjoyed being a hostess for special occasions and holiday events. She loved to have get-togethers and cook meals for family and friends.

She is survived by two sons; Nicholas Burns of Boynton Beach, FL and Jared Burns of Ponca City, OK; two sisters, Elizabeth Hanger of Pratt, KS and Salinda Ortiz of Blackwell, OK; her father, Floyd Cook of Kaw City, OK; and one grandson, Aizen Burns of Ponca City.

Along with her husband, she was preceded in death by her mother; Sandra Lindenmuth-Keller.

A memorial service is scheduled for 2 p.m., Friday, Dec. 16, 2016 at Trout Funeral Home Chapel in Ponca City, with pastor Kyle Megenity of New Point Church officiating. Friends and family can gather and visit after the memorial service at 2405 Sykes Blvd, food and refreshments will be served. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Trout Funeral Home and Crematory. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Ponca City Humane Society at 900 W.
