Allene Virginia McMillen

June 29, 1938 – August 30, 2022

Allene went to be with the Lord on August 30th, 2022, in Enid, Oklahoma. She was born June 29th, 1938, to Allen “Honey” and Charlotte V. Jones at her home west of Tonkawa. She was married to the love of her life, James McMillen. To that union, 4 children were born: Sherrie, Darla, Larry, and Rick.

She worked several years at the Tonkawa school cafeteria and helped her husband on their centennial family farm. Allene was a lifetime member of the First Christian Church and sang in the choir for many years.

She enjoyed having coffee and heart-felt conversation around her kitchen table with the ones she loved. She spent many hours tending to her garden, cattle, and taking great pride in both. She kept harvest alive with her home cooking, and positive attitude during that busy season. She was known for being a solid rock, listening ear, harvest sandwich maker, and an endless giving heart. When she wasn’t taking care of others, she was filling her jellybean bowl for her great grandkids.

Allene is survived by her brother Bud and wife Camille Jones, daughter Sherrie Roush, son-in-law Jerry Hubbard, son Larry and wife Tami McMillen, son Rick and wife Sue McMillen, niece Shelley and husband Troney Langston all of Tonkawa, 14 grandchildren, 31 great grandchildren, and 2 great-great grandchildren.

Allene was preceded in death by her husband James, daughter Darla, her daughter-in-law Christy McMillen, son-in-law Cliff Roush, nephew Tad Jones, her parents, and her sister Shelia.

Memorials may be made to the Riverview Cemetery through the First National Bank of Oklahoma, in Tonkawa.
