
Norma Lee Peres

Norma Lee Peres of Braman, Oklahoma, passed away on June 28, 2025, in Tonkawa, Oklahoma, at the age of 95 years.
Norma Lee Peres was born in Blackwell on August 30, 1929. She was the daughter of Alfred Edwin and Edith Mary (Tannahill) Cheney. Norma grew up in Blackwell, Oklahoma, and in parts of Kansas. She married Leslie Milford Chriestenson on August 26, 1945 in Neosho Falls, Kansas. He preceded her in death September 18, 1946.
She married Oren Wayne Peres on April 16, 1947 in Burlington, Kansas, and they settled on a farm in Leroy, Kansas. Shortly after, they moved to Blackwell, Oklahoma, in 1965. In 1965, they moved to Braman, and opened the Texaco Station, where she was the bookkeeper. She was a member of the Braman Methodist Church. Oren preceded her in death on April 14, 2006. She continued to live in Braman until 2025, when she moved to Tonkawa.
She was also preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Alvin Cheney and Kenneth Cheney; six sisters, Alta Ricketts, Ramona DeWitt, Evelyn Pappan, Eleanor Eggers, Loetta Dale, and Helen Stiles; one daughter, Mary Emma Garland; two sons, Carl Loren Peres, Frank Alfred Peres; one grandson, Quincy Levi Hicks; one great-grandchild, Regan Stahl-Hicks; and one great-great-grandchild.
She is survived by one son, Leslie V. Chriestenson and wife Susan of Blackwell; two daughters, Rita Lee and husband Bruner of Fort Worth, Texas, and Evelyn Gail Hicks of Blackwell, Oklahoma; sixteen Grandchildren, Vicky, Charles, Michele, Carla, Kindra, Kara, Geeoff, Darrick, Chad, John, Jeremy, Mandy, Sharyn, Travis, Lonnie, and Tommy; twenty five great-grandchildren, and six great-great-grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established with the Braman Community Church.
A visitation is scheduled for 9:00 am – 7:00 pm, Wednesday, July 2, 2025, at Roberts & Son Funeral Home.
A Funeral Service is scheduled for 2:00 pm, Thursday, July 3, 2025, at the Roberts & Son Funeral Home Chapel. Burial to follow at the Blackwell Cemetery.
