Mary Fisher

Mary Fisher

June 20, 1935 - April 18, 2026

Mary Elizabeth Fisher went to be with our Lord in Heaven on April 18, 2026, at the age of 90. A graveside service will be held Monday, April 27, 2026, at 2:00 p.m. at Longwood Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Trout Funeral Home and Cemetery & Crematory, 505 W. Grand Ave., Ponca City, Oklahoma 74601.

Mary was born on June 20, 1935, in Newalla, Oklahoma, to Lee Edward and Edith (Sickler) Powell. She graduated from Ponca City High School in 1955. On June 8 of that same year, she married the love of her life, Truman Henry Fisher, at First Baptist Church in Marland.

First and foremost, Mary had a deep and personal relationship with God and read her Bible daily. She found joy in singing gospel songs and sharing that joy with others.

Mary was a devoted homemaker and an accomplished seamstress, lovingly sewing beautiful dresses for her granddaughters. She had a rare and meaningful gift to be fully present with others, listening without judgment and making each person feel valued and heard. One of her greatest joys was time spent with her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Her laughter and warm smile were constant and contagious.

She expressed her love through cooking, and her banana cake and fried chicken were favorites among family. Holidays, especially Thanksgiving and Christmas, were cherished times as she welcomed loved ones into her home and prepared meals that brought everyone together. She also shared a special bond with her sister Bonnie; the two were inseparable and especially enjoyed making candy together during the Christmas season for friends and community members.

Mary faithfully served her church family for many years, teaching Sunday School, caring for children in the nursery, and most especially cooking for the children on Wednesday evenings a role she treasured. If there was a sign-up sheet to serve, her name was often the first written down. She simply loved helping others.

Mary leaves behind a legacy of faith, love, and kindness. She was a devoted wife, mother, and Nana who created a home where everyone felt welcome. Her nurturing spirit and genuine love for others will be deeply missed and forever remembered by all who knew her. She truly loved with her whole heart and was, to many, an angel on earth.

Mary is survived by her daughter, Liz (Tim) Wiederkehr, stepson, Mark (Susan) Fisher, 8 grandchildren-Jeff, Becky, Tom, Leah, Scott, Nicole, Bart and Brett, and many great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

Mary was preceded in death by her husband, Truman Sr., stepson Truman Jr., stepdaughter, Sharrel, granddaughter, Robyn, her parents and all of her siblings.

Family would like to express their extreme gratitude to the staff of Hospice of North Central Oklahoma for their amazing care of Mary, and also, the staff of Creekside Assisted Living. We will be forever grateful for all the kindness and patience shown to Mary.

In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to: Hospice of North Central Oklahoma, 445 Fairview, Ponca City, OK 74601.
