Margarett Jones

Margarett June (Cross) Jones

September 1, 1940 - November 25, 2025

Margarett grew up in a large, close-knit family, where she was the eldest of many siblings and took care of them as if they were her own. She was preceded in death by Harry, Thomas, Charles, Linda “Janey,” Bessie, Wanda, Maxine, and several other brothers and sisters who passed before her. She is survived by her siblings Ella, Ralph “Jeff,” Vernon, Beverly Ann, and Steve James.

She graduated from Blackwell High School and later attended Northern Oklahoma College, where she briefly studied architecture - an early reflection of her creativity and imagination.

Margarett married the love of her life, Albert “Sonny” James Lee Jones, whom she lovingly called her “Hunny.” Their bond was deep, gentle, and unwavering. Sonny, along with her children John “Mitchell” Boyd Jr., James “Jimmy” Lester Boyd, and Linda Irene (Boyd) Gilbert, preceded her in death, leaving an ache she carried with quiet strength.

She is survived by her daughter, Frankie; her grandchildren Brian “Keith,” Serena, Destiny, Amanda, Isaac, Morgan, and Zachary; and her great-grandchildren MaKenzie, Paislee, Bryan, Kently, Jarek, Jasper, Evie, Carson, Meka, Remington, Wesson, Rylan, Ryot, Rayden, and Renelyn.

Margarett had a warm and calming presence that filled any room. She loved to crochet, creating meaningful handmade gifts her family will cherish forever. She tended her garden with care, canning countless jars of vegetables to share with those she loved. And she was a natural storyteller - someone who could wrap a memory in humor, tenderness, and wisdom, offering pieces of family history to anyone at her side. Her family will forever hold close her gentle phrase, “I love you bunches.”

Margarett spent her later years in Blackwell, Oklahoma, surrounded by the people and memories that shaped her life. Her love was quiet but powerful, a steady comfort that wrapped around her family like one of her lovingly crocheted blankets. She taught not through instruction but through example - patience, kindness, resilience, and the magic of simply being present.

Her stories will echo for generations. Her guidance will continue to shape the lives she touched. And her words “I love you bunches” will always remind her family of the endless love she gave so freely.

Though our hearts are heavy, we find comfort in knowing she is reunited with her beloved Sonny and the children she missed so deeply. Her hands are at rest, her stories complete, and her spirit finally at peace.

Margarett leaves behind a legacy woven with tenderness, strength, and unwavering love. She will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered, today, tomorrow, and for all the years to come.
