Joyce Gayle Dotson, resident of Ponca City, passed away on October 23rd, 2025 at the age of 88. In accordance with her wishes, her family will gather at a small graveside service at Resthaven Memorial Park to honor her life. Born on October 29th,1936, in Espanola, New Mexico, to Odes and Geraldine Shaw, Joyce moved to Hobart, Oklahoma, at an early age where she graduated from Hobart High School. In 1954, she moved with her parents to Ponca City, Oklahoma. There she met her loving husband, Walter Dotson, whom she married in 1955. The couple moved to Blackwell, Oklahoma a few years after their wedding where they raised their three children and were members of the First Nazarene Church.

In 1981, her husband opened Dotson Auto Sales, a business she supported and helped manage until 2009, when Walter retired due to declining health. She also worked for 15 years at Western Sizzlin’ in Ponca City during this time. The couple moved back to Ponca City in 1999. She was married for 55 years, before her husband, Walter, passed in 2010. Joyce was grateful to have spent her life near friends and family and found her greatest joy in spending time with them.

Joyce is survived by: her three wonderful children, Terry Dotson and wife, Barbara, of Ponca City, Lesa Haymaker and husband, Tim, of Ponca City and Randy Dotson and wife, Janie, of Garland, TX.; five grandchildren, Kindra Dotson, Brandy Ray, Bryce Dotson, Chandra Smith and Braden Dotson; nine great-grandchildren, Trey Dotson, Sataiya Goree, Jaxon Livingston, Oliver Dotson, Gino Welsch, Nora and Ava Dotson, and Claire and Emma Dotson, and additional step grand and great- grandchildren. She is also survived by one brother, Bobby Shaw and his wife, Marsha, of Virginia Beach, VA; as well as three nieces and two nephews. She is preceded in death by her husband, Walter Dotson, parents Odes and Geraldine Shaw, one brother Gene Shaw, one granddaughter Gina Dotson, and one great-grandson, Micah Dotson.
