
John Weingartner
March 28, 1949 – December 31, 2025
J.T (John Timothy) Weingartner, beloved brother and uncle, passed from this life to the arms of Jesus on December 31, 2025. He was born in Blackwell, Oklahoma on March 28, 1949. He has lived with his sister and brother-in-law, Sue and Charles True in Tonkawa, OK for the past 10 years.
He lived his early life on the farm near Tonkawa and graduated from Lamont High School in 1967. After high school, he joined the Air Force and following his military service, he returned briefly to Tonkawa. He found employment with Nelson Painting Company in Louisiana and worked for them for many years, traveling around the country. He lived in Louisiana a number of years, enjoying the food, climate and culture of southern Louisiana. He moved to Phoenix and worked as a maintenance worker for a large apartment complex. On learning that he was ill, his sister insisted upon his returning to Tonkawa to regain his health. He has worked as a Transport person for Cherokee Strip Transit since 2019 helping many people to their medical appointments. He also delivered Meals on Wheels to Tonkawa residents.
He loved being with friends and family enjoying food and good times. He loved riding his motorcycle and owned a number of them during his lifetime. Special times were making the run to Sturgis on a number of occasions, and a couple poker runs with his brother and nephews. He enjoyed many other poker runs and motorcycle rallies with friends and family. His favorite saying was “Just me, JT.”
He was preceded in death by his parents, John T. Weingartner and Marjorie Weingartner O’Mealey, his brothers, Michael Anthony and Daniel Joseph. He is survived by his sisters, Anna W. Stephens, Sue True and husband, Charles, Mary Milligan and husband, David, Nieces and nephews Michael Weingartner, John Ross Weingartner, Christine Shockey, Donna True, Eddie True, Whitney Weingartner, Eric Weingartner, Mat Weingartner, Kindra Ayala, and Vanessa Milligan and grand nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, donation may be made to Hospice of North Central Oklahoma, 445 Fairview Avenue, Ponca City, OK 74601.
A Visitation will be held from 10:00 AM–2:00 PM, Friday, January 2, 2026, at Roberts and Son Funeral Home.
A Funeral Service will be held at 2:30 PM, Friday, January 2, 2026, in the Roberts and Son Funeral Home Chapel, with Rev. Sam Simmons officiating. Burial to follow in the Tonkawa IOOF Cemetery.
