James Dandridge

February 8, 1952 - April 26, 2026

James Dale Dandridge, 74, of Ponca City, passed away peacefully on April 26, 2026, surrounded by his loving family. A Celebration of Life will be held at the Carolyn Renfro Center, 445 Fairview Ave #103 in Ponca City, on Friday, May 1, 2026, at 2:00 p.m., follow by a graveside service at Resthaven Cemetery. Afterwards everyone who wishes to can return to the event center for a gathering with family and friends. Arrangements are under the direction of Trout Funeral Home & Crematory, 505 W Grand Ave, Ponca City, OK 74601.

Jim was born on February 8, 1952, in Blackwell to Florence and Morris Dandridge. He grew up alongside his siblings, Janet and Mike, forming lifelong memories filled with float trips to Noel, Missouri, strong friendships, and a deep appreciation for family. He graduated from Blackwell High School in 1970.

Following graduation, Jim embraced a sense of adventure before settling down to build a life centered around family. He married Karen, and together they raised their daughters, Tracy and Michelle. Jim was a devoted and involved father, spending countless hours coaching youth sports, fishing, and cheering on OU football - except during harvest. After Karen’s passing, he remained deeply committed to his family and later found love again in 2002 with Kelly Young, and was an amazing stepfather to her daughter Taylor. They were married in 2013.

Jim dedicated 44 years of his life to John Deere, where he was lovingly nicknamed Bones and earned a reputation as a highly respected and skilled mechanic. Known for his determination and ability to solve any problem, he took great pride in his work. Even in retirement, Jim continued helping others; always willing to lend his time and expertise whenever someone was in need. His work was more than a career; it was a reflection of who he was.

Beyond his profession, Jim was a devoted husband, father, papa, and loyal friend. He had a deep love for OU sports and golf, and in his younger years, he enjoyed fishing, camping, family reunions, and time spent outdoors. He was someone you could always count on - whether it was joining in on amusement park rides, offering a helping hand, or sharing a memorable story over a cup of coffee.

In retirement, Jim treasured weekly lunches with lifelong friends and staying connected to the people he loved. Above all, his greatest joy was his family, especially his grandchildren, who affectionately knew him as “Papa.”

Jim is survived by his wife, Kelly; his children, Tracy and Alex Bacon, Michelle and Conan Foster, and Taylor and Garrett Teasley; and his beloved grandchildren, Kira, Gabby, Alex, Sutton, and another grandson due in July. He is also survived by his sister, Janet Dandridge Adams, and her children, Aaron, Abigail, and Micah. Also numerous cousins he deeply treasured.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Morris and Florence Dandridge; his brother, Mike Dandridge; and his Grandparents.

Jim will always be remembered for his steady presence, generous spirit, and the love he gave so freely to those around him. His legacy lives on in the family he cherished and the countless lives he touched.
