Gladys Fay Johns died on Tuesday June 3, 2025, in Blackwell, OK at the age of 82 years old.
Gladys Fay Johns was born on December 30,1942 in Porum, OK to Marvin Eugene and Pearlie Violet (Stephens) Chamberlain. She attended 1st and 2nd grade in rural Stigler, OK Schools then moving to Blackwell where she attended 3rd grade to 12th grade. Graduating in the Class of 1961. While in High School she married Raymond O. Johns on October 31,1959 in Wichita, KS. and they made their home in Blackwell, OK. Fay was a stay-at-home mom while her children were young. She then worked at the Sonic Drive-In for 3 ½ years, then going to Southwest Cupid when they opened and worked there for 23 ½ years she retired from there in 1995. After traveling the country they returned to spend more time with their grandchildren. She liked to read, sew and take road trips. She collected cookbooks, ugly piggy banks and animated Christmas figures. Giving blood was important to her, she has donated over 20 gallons of blood to the Red Cross. She was a member of the First Christian Church in Blackwell, OK.
She is survived by a daughter Christina “Tina” Ebert partner Troy Rhea of Blackwell, OK: a son David Johns wife Christine of Show Low, AZ; sister in-laws Ellen Johns of Castle Rock, CO; Nancy Johns of Blackwell; Carol Chamberlain of Ponca City; Brother in-law Leon Woodward of Blackwell; Grandchildren, Felicia Mader and husband Robert of Parade, SD; Fowler Hata and husband Ryosuke of Edmond, Jessica McClaflin and husband Kenneth of Blackwell; step-grandchildren Kevin Ehrenberg of Montevideo, Minnesota; Jason Reinert of Duluth Minnesota, four great grandchildren and three step great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Raymond Johns; son in-law Richard Ebert; 3 sisters, Daisy Woodward, Mary Abbott, Patricia Maupin: a brother Estle Chamberlain; a granddaughter Danielle Johns; step granddaughter Dayna Ehrenberg.
A Memorial Service is scheduled for 10:00 am, Monday, June 9, 2025, at the First Christian Church in Blackwell, with Rev. Jeff Koch officiating. Burial to follow at the Blackwell Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established for the First Christian Church Funeral Dinner Fund.
