Etta Hamburger

Etta M. Hamburger

February 6, 1931 - May 20, 2025

Etta Eileen DeBoard Hamburger was born Feb 6, 1931 at the family farm in Braman, Oklahoma. Two sisters that were mid-wives helped deliver her. Their names were Etta and Eileen. She was the baby of 12 children born to Jesse Deboard and Leota (Wilbanks) Deboard.

With her first husband, Donald Lane Smith, she had three children, Michael Eugene, Debra Ellen, and Stephanie Gayle.

She met her second husband, Dale Leroy Hamburger while working at Conoco in Ponca City, Oklahoma. They loved to spend evenings and weekends on Kaw Lake fishing and took many bus tours across the United States. In 1990 she retired when Conoco transferred Dale to Denver, Colorado. There they then found a new passion spending every March and April in Arizona attending Spring Training with the Colorado Rockies. She was an avid fan never missing a game for many years. In 2012 Dale retired and they moved to Sand Springs, OK.

She had many hobbies which she shared with her kids and grandkids. She loved reading the Bible, baking, sewing, quilting, reading Christian novels and working many puzzles such as Jigsaw, Crossword, and Word Search.

The joy of her life were her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Christmas and Thanksgiving at Grandma’s, also known as GG, was non-negotiable.

She is survived by three children all living in Sand Springs, OK; her son Michael of the home, her daughter Debbie and Ron DeWitt, and her daughter Stephanie and Lance Kimberling. Her 5 grandchildren; Jeremy Auld of Tulsa, Oklahoma, Jared and Jennifer Auld of Tulsa , Kylie Ladenburger of Wappinger Falls, New York, Kelsey and Matt Brown of Collinsville, OK, Jenna and Robby Honeycutt of Moore, OK, 7 great grandchildren; Luka Auld, Layla Auld, Fawlyn Ramsey, Rocco Auld, Mateo Auld, Mia Auld, Bennett Brown and many nephews and nieces.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her siblings; Cecil DeBoard, Retis DeBoard, Melvin DeBoard, Olen DeBoard, Pauline Evans, Lindle DeBoard, Irene Brown, Lorene Anderson, Jesse DeBoard, Charles DeBoard, Charlene Grapes, husband Dale Hamburger and one grandson Jason Aubrey Smith.

While we will miss spending every day enjoying her quick whit, laughter and many stories, we look forward to joining her and her many beloved sisters and brothers in heaven worshiping our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

A graveside service is scheduled for 11:00 a.m., Friday, May 23rd in the Braman Cemetery with Rev. Jeff Koch officiating.
