Babe met his first love Margaret Hash in 7th grade. The two were married on July 24th, 1951 and blessed with three children: Jerry, David and Karen.
Babe attended one semester at Oklahoma A&M College before enlisting in the United States Air Force, where he was a radio operator. Babe served in Korea during the Korean War until November 1952. He was also stationed in Warner Robbins, GA and Grand Prairie, TX. Upon leaving the Air Force, Babe and Margaret made their home in Ponca City, OK where Babe farmed in Red Rock until they moved to Perry, OK where Babe was a wheat and cattle farmer, a custom cutter, an oil field man before owning his own oil rig “Dickson Drilling, a race car driver and an airplane pilot.
A caring father, grandfather, and best friend. Babe was always willing to lend a hand and would give you the shirt off his own back if he knew you needed it. Babe was a current member of Marland Community Church. He loved Jesus, loved to travel, loved Sunday coffee with his friends and once a month Pilot Dinner. To see the ornery sparkle in Babe’s eye when he laughed was the best because he had a sense of humor like no other. There wasn’t a dessert he didn’t love; but don’t ask him to cut you a slice of pie because with that sparkle in his eye; you might get the tiniest sliver you’ve ever seen.
Babe was preceded in death by his parents; his wife Margaret, and siblings: Max Dickson, Maxine (Bill) Urban, VanWayne (Kitty) Dickson and Betty (Joe) Habben.
Babe is survived by his longtime companion and best friend of 22 years, Marilynn Ring of the home with her children and grandchildren; his children Jerry Dickson (Debbie) of Elsinore, Utah, David Dickson (Lorena) of Cumming, GA and Karen Buffington of Perry, OK, and grandchildren: Daniel Dickson, Margaret Dickson, Diana Dickson, Denise Dickson. Babe is also survived by niece, Diana Matheny (Sam) and numerous nieces and nephews, and special friends John Weeks, Bob Bornt, Leon Hake, and Dennis Summers.
Babe promised he will be waiting at the gates and we know he will!
