Cody Ray Forte
August 30, 1990 — March 15, 2026
Cody Ray Forte, 35 years of age, journeyed to the Spirit World to be among the Star Nation Sunday, March 15, 2026. He was born to his mother Frances McIntosh-Brown on August 30, 1990, and was such a blessing.
In 1994, Cody started on the Red Road and became the family of Frances McIntosh and Mekasi Horinek. He resided in Oklahoma Camp over the last thirty years at Crow Dog’s Paradise in Rosebud, South Dakota and Porcupine where he belonged to the Makah Luta Society. This society belonged to his adopted father, the late Victorio Camp.
Kodiak, his name from his mother, had many fathers; Mekasi Horinek of South Dakota and Emmett Wilson Hall of Red Rock, Oklahoma.
Cody attended Red Rock Elementary School, Ponca City, St. Francis, and then finishing up in Pine Ridge Indian School in Pine Ridge, South Dakota where he lived with his Ata’ Vic.
Upon returning to Oklahoma after school, he met and made a family with Tanesa Molina of Ponca City and leaving behind son Gerald Lee Forte, daughter Munjemi, son Cody Jr., son Mateo, son Andre, named after his brother Royce, Godson Abriel and an "Uncle Dad" to Kingston, Carter Ray, Nakylin, Kreed, Kobin and Kamiah, numerous nieces and nephews too many to count because that is how he was always caring for them, that is just the guy he was.
A great spoiler of kids and a man who believed in family truth and values. He was an avid hunter and fisherman, always providing for his family and friends. He loved to chef up on the grill whenever he could. He loved his dog Gunner as well as any animal. Cody also loved to play Shinny in White Eagle each spring.
He was a part of the Bear Clan with the Otoe Missouria Tribe as well as the Kitkehaki band of the Pawnee Tribe. He was also a proud Kiowa of the Hall-Zotigh family.
He is survived by his mother Daniella Frances McIntosh-Brown of Bressie, Oklahoma, fathers Mekasi Horinek of Rosebud South Dakota as well as Emmett Wilson Hall of Red Rock, Oklahoma, siblings Mikele J’ Nelle Forte of Stillwater, Oklahoma, Royce Andre Forte of Ponca City, Sharon Mikele of Pawhuska, sister Jewell Inez Horinek of Marland, Zapasna Horinek and Brandon Horinek of Marland, Oklahoma, sisters Sherolynn and Alyssa Hall of Red Rock, brothers Kevin Decorah of Ponca City, Hinglu Huber of Stillwater, sister Heather Hall of Pawnee and Charles Camp of South Dakota.
He is proceeded in death by his daughter Nyelli Renee Forte’ and his Ate’ Victorio Camp.
His occupations were maintenance for the Otoe Tribe for numerous years then driving the delivery truck for Lowe’s alongside his uncle Charlie LeClair.
Cody was a true warrior to his Tiospa, danced, and prayed for his family, especially his children and nieces and nephews. He was a hero and good friend to many and touched whoever crossed paths with him. His humor, laugh, big ol smile and hugs will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
Services will be held at the Otoe-Missouria Cultural Building Friday, March 20, 2026. Traditional feast and giveaway will be at 12:00pm, followed by burial at the Otoe Missouria Tribal Cemetery.
