Betty Cutler
November 9, 1934 - October 26, 2025
Chloe Elizabeth (Betty) Cutler, age 90, long time resident of Ponca City passed away peacefully on Sunday, Oct 26, 2025. Betty was born November 9, 1934, in Fairfax, Oklahoma. She was the daughter of William Dewey and Clara C. (Tiny) Thomas Young. She was a graduate of Fairfax High School in 1954 and a proud Red Devil.
Betty grew up in a musical family. Her father could play various instruments, and her mother could be found on the piano at church. She always laughed because she was told her mother laid her on a blanket on the floor by the piano at birth, and there’s where she found the love for music. She sang her first solo at four years old. In eighth grade, she was awarded the American Legion Certificate of School Award, to which she proudly displayed in her home. At age 13, she joined her dad's band and traveled to revivals in the surrounding area. She proudly sang for all school events and loved being a Red Devil cheerleader.
In January 1956, she married Jack Cutler in the Assembly of God Church in Fairfax, Oklahoma. The couple moved to Ponca City in March of 1956. To this union was born three daughters: Clara Ann (Katy) Cutler Art, Jackie Ann Cutler Ingram, and Betty Faye Cutler Kosley. She was employed in the offices of Dr.’s Jack Terry, Curt Yeary for more than 25 years. Betty also had the opportunity to work for the Ponca City Area Chamber of Commerce, where she loved meeting people and promoting her town. A lover of people, she never grew tired of answering questions and was always ready to be of service to anyone in need. She was a dependable person and loyal friend.
Betty and Jack were faithful attendees of the 101WWR. She sold box seats for over 20 years, once again promoting her town. In 2011, she was recognized as the Grand Marshall at the 101WWR and in 2021, received the “Lifetime Friend of the Rodeo” 101 Wild West Rodeo belt buckle, which she wore proudly. Her greatest achievement in life was her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. In her later years, she learned how to handle boys, having five great grandsons, and enjoyed putting on lipstick/makeup with her great granddaughters, always doing their “miracle”.
