Benethia Gay Johnson
April 22, 1960 - April 13, 2025
Benethia Johnson, 64, of Blackwell, Oklahoma, passed away on April 13, 2025. Born on April 22, 1960, in Talihina, Oklahoma, Benethia was the beloved daughter of Bert and Edith Jones. As a child, she grew up in Southeastern Oklahoma and moved to North Central Oklahoma in the early 1980s, where she had lived ever since.
Throughout her life, Benethia dedicated herself to caring for others and bringing joy to those around her. She began her professional journey as an Activity Director at Hillcrest Manor until the late 1980s. Her passion for service and organization led her to a long tenure as the Business Office Manager at Hillcrest Manor and Blackwell Nursing Home in Blackwell, and later at Servant Living Center in Medford until 2017. Benethia most recently worked as a cashier at Tonkawa Casino.
Benethia's life was filled with warmth and generosity. She had a deep love for her family and cherished every moment with them. She is lovingly remembered by her husband, Danny Johnson; daughters Candice Lawrence, with her three children, London, Arie, and Spencer; Christin Glass, with her husband, Neil Glass, and their three children, Ethan, Nina, and Nora, all of Blackwell; honorary daughter, Jessie Brandenberg, with her two children, John and Lily, of Newkirk; a brother, Jeff Jones, of Hugo, Oklahoma; and a sister, Margaret Jones, of Antlers, Oklahoma. She was preceded in death by her parents, Bert and Edith Jones.
Her vibrant personality shone through in everything she did. Benethia had a special talent and love for decorating, especially during Christmas, and took great joy in collecting holiday decor that transformed her home into a festive wonderland each year. She also enjoyed gardening, antiquing, and indulging in her love for purses and shoes. Her dogs were dear companions to her, and she found happiness in their presence.
Benethia treasured simple pleasures—getting her nails done with her daughter, weekly lunch dates with her grandson Ethan, sitting outside on her swing, and sharing laughter with friends and family. Her kindness touched many lives, leaving behind memories that will be cherished forever.
A memorial service to honor Benethia's life will be held on Friday, April 25, 2025, at 1:30 PM at Roberts & Son Funeral Home in Blackwell.
May Benethia Johnson's memory bring comfort to all who knew and loved her.
