I was born April 16, 1948 to Alton Horne and Laura Pearl Wear. I wasn't a junior. I grew up in a loving home, I always wanted to go to California so at the end of the school year in 1964, I and two others drove to Thousand Oaks CA. We didn't say goodbye or tell anyone where we were going. When we came home , I took my butt chewing, especially with my girlfriend Connie.

In November 1964, I joined the National Guard. In a few weeks, I was gone to boot camp in Fort Polk, LA. I did six months of weekend training and a week training in 1965. March 28, 1966 I married Connie Jones.

April 1966, I was on drill week. I and six other guards were arrested for public drunk. I turned 18 in jail in Vian, OK. We got enough money together to go back home and get money for the others. A guard stopped by the jail and told us to turn in all our equipment and we were to be turned over to the draft. On that Monday, I and two others signed up for the drat. We walked next door and signed up for the Navy to avoid the draft. On April 22,1966 only 28 days after being married, I was gone again, then in June of 1967, I was on to Vietnam with MCB 74 Fighting Seabees where I was an equipment operator. February 1968, I was back in the US. Of the three of us that joined the Navy, I was the only one to go to Vietnam.

April 1968, I got out of the Seabees to start a life with Connie and the kids. A marriage that was not supposed to last, as said by all families, lasted 39 years. Connie was a special woman, I put her through hell. All of this made me a loving and caring person. Written by Pete in 2024.

Pete started working for Ceja corporation in the early 80's as a truck driver, he took his kids on many adventures all over the Midwest in the 18-wheeler. He later became the production foreman. He taught his kids to work hard and love big. He worked three jobs at times to make sure Connie could stay home to care for the kids. He never complained and did it all with a smile. After his retirement, he enjoyed riding motorcycles, going to rallies, but mostly supporting his grands and great grands in all their activities. He loved helping people and would spend most days of the week doing yard work and housework for widows and people that just needed help.

He loved to make people smile. He carried a shoe box of candy in his truck and would give it out to his grandkids. As the number of grandkids grew, his box grew as well. He remembered all their favorites and kept them stocked just in case he ran into them or as a special treat after their games. At Christmas he would put on his Santa suit and take a few of the grandsons on motorcycle rides around the neighborhoods throwing candy out to the kids. He lived his life loving others well.

He is survived by his children, Alton Horne and his wife, Karen, LaVonna Choate and her husband, Kelly, James Horne and his wife, Lacrishia, and Kaleen Kizziar and her husband, Leramy, grandchildren, Crystalyn, Ryan, Alton Patrick, Dustin, Brittany, Trent, Alexis, Kaden, Evan, Shannon, Calie, Braxton, Rhean, Tyler, Jenzy, Cortney, Will, Laurra and Kalie; 19 great-grandchildren. Pete also leaves behind his sisters, Anise Casey and husband Tom, Jean Coonrod and Mary Horne, and many other loved ones and friends.

Pete was preceded in death by parents, brother David and wife Connie.
