Equipment for a new musical-themed play structure is being installed in Garfield Park, directly south of Garfield School.

Ponca City’s Board of Commissioners approved a design and build contract for $56,997 for the playground in May. Phillips 66 provided a $60,000 grant for the park.

The remaining $3,000 will be a contingency fund for any unexpected expenses or changes.

The play structures offer all kinds of opportunities for children to create music, Park and Recreation Director Eric Newell said.

The contract is with ACS Playground Adventures. The park will be an accessible playground conforming to ADA standards.
