National Indian Taco Championship in Pawhuska October 7

The National Indian Taco Championship is an annual event that has occurred over the last 19 years in Pawhuska, Oklahoma. We accept competitors from all over the country to meet in our historic downtown to see who will win the title of the National Indian Taco Championship. We have drink and non-food vendors in attendance as well. We have a few ways to be a judge as well. This event is always on the first Saturday in October.
October 7th, 2023 from 10 am to 4 pm.
Pow Wow will be the day of. Time TBA
Contestants are competing for:
1st: $1500
2nd: $1000
3rd: $500
People’s Choice – $1000
Free parking is behind the Pawhuska Chamber of Commerce, City Hall, and 6th Street next to the Post Office!
You can sign up for Preliminary Judging or People’s Choice Judging at 10am.
Sign ups for Preliminary Judge and People’s Choice Judge will be the day of the event only! We do not pre-register judges before the event!
There are two ways to be a judge for the NITC:
1) Preliminary Judge- You can help judge the first (10 spots) and second flight (10 spots) of the NITC Competition by only paying $10. Signs ups begin that day at 10am. It is on a first come first serve basis.
2) People’s Choice Judge- With the People’s Choice Judging if you come to the T shirt booth the day of the NITC and pay $5 we will give you a badge. With that badge if you go to any of the NITC Contestants Booth that are participating in the People’s Choice, you can buy a quarter sample of the Contestants Indian Taco for $2. After you are finished tasting all of the tacos that you would like, bring your badge back to the booth. Once you return your People’s Choice Badge we will give you 5 tickets. With the 5 tickets, you can put them all into one Contestant Container or divide them into multiple Contestant Containers. Sign ups begin the day of the event and we close this judging around 2pm.
