More homecoming information for alumni band members

Ponca City Now - September 22, 2015 12:00 pm

David Christy, the director of bands for Ponca City High School, has provided additional information about this year’s alumni/community band for homecoming.

"Again this year, we will have an adult group that will play with the Po-Hi Band in the stands in the first half and then combine with the band at the end of their show as part of the homecoming festivities and you will NOT have to march," he said. "Regardless of experience, everybody is welcome to take part. We can get music out to you ahead of time and we also have school instruments if you need one. If that is the case, please let me know ahead of time."

Christy said the alumni band has proven to be a highlight of homecoming and a lot of fun.

"You don’t have to be an alumnus of Po-Hi to take part. We will rehearse at 7 p.m. Thursday at the Po-Hi Band Room and then have a run through at 6 p.m. Friday in the Orchestra Room," Christy said. "It is OK if you cannot make the Thursday rehearsal. Dress for the event for both evenings will be comfortable clothes."

"If you have any questions you can email me at [email protected] or call or text me at 806-576-6530," Christy said. "The group numbered around 25 last year and we would like it to be even bigger this year. Don’t be shy or worry that you ‘are not good enough.’ We would love to see you!"
