NEW ORLEANS (AP) – Oklahoma’s Baker Mayfield says a priority as he prepares for the NFL is allaying character concerns.

Mayfield spoke with media after being named the Manning Award winner as the nation’s top college quarterback. Mayfield says he’s owned up to and learned from mistakes.

Mayfield also won the Heisman Trophy after passing for 4,627 yards and 43 touchdowns this season.

The Manning Award considers postseason performance in voting by a national media panel as well as Archie, Peyton and Eli Manning.
