Man dies of long-range gunshot

ELK CITY, Okla. (AP) – Oklahoma authorities say a 42-year-old man has died after being hit at a long range by a bullet.

State medical examiner’s office spokeswoman Amy Elliot told The Oklahoman (http://bit.ly/1yUkdt8 ) Wednesday that 42-year-old Howard Breeden died after being shot in the abdomen. She said the Midwest City man was shot Sunday on a rural road in Roger Mills County.

Federal and state authorities are investigating because he was killed on tribal land.
