OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) – Oklahoma City police say a man has died after being fatally shot by his attorney.

Lieutenant Taylor Dinh says the shooting happened at an Oklahoma City home Saturday evening after the two men got into a physical confrontation.

Dinh says it’s unclear what started the fight. No charges have been reported.

Criminal defense attorney Jay Silvernail tells The Oklahoman newspaper he shot his 54-year-old client, David Scott Smith, but declined further comment. Smith was paroled last year after spending more than two decades in prison for a 1988 robbery case.
