Man arrested on drug complaints after warrant served

Jonathan Alan Clay, 32, was arrested Wednesday after a traffic stop just after 2 p.m.. Ponca City Police spokeswoman Sherry Bowers said. His vehicle was towed from Oklahoma Avenue between Osage and Palm streets.

Special Project Unit Officers, along with other officers from the Ponca City Police Department, served a search warrant on his residence in the 700 block of North Oak.

Clay is facing charges from today’s searches for possession of methamphetamine after a former conviction with intent to distribute, possession of marijuana with intent to distribute after a former conviction, possession of drug paraphernalia after a former conviction and possession of controlled dangerous substance (pills) after a former conviction. Also seized was a substance that will be submitted to the Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigations lab for analysis. Bowers said police believe the substance to be synthetic cannabinoids.

Clay has a lengthy criminal past dating back to 2001, including multiple domestic assaults, assault with a deadly weapon and drug charges. He is currently on a 10-year deferred sentence for prior drug charges.
