The City of Ponca City has received multiple reports from utility customers regarding a potential phone scam. Several individuals have reported being contacted by a male caller—described as having a Middle Eastern accent—who claimed to be from the Ponca City Utility Billing Department and requested payment over the phone.
This issue came to light as the City began contacting customers regarding delinquent utility bills, and some individuals believed they had already made payment.
The Ponca City Police Department is currently investigating these reports.
To protect yourself:
• Only make payments over the phone if you have directly contacted the PCUA Billing Office at the official, published phone number.
• If you receive a suspicious call requesting payment, hang up immediately.
• Do not provide any personal or payment information.
• For verification, contact the Billing Office directly or visit in person.
