OKLAHOMA CITY — Preservation Oklahoma has unveiled its annual list of Oklahoma’s Most Endangered Places for 2025. The list features a variety of sites across the state, including sites representing the work of Oklahoma architects, community gathering places, and archaeological sites.
This year’s list of endangered sites are:
-The Prairie House, Norman
-Orpheum/Cook Theater, Okmulgee
-West Winds Motel, Erick
-Canadian County Jail, El Reno
-The Vogel House, Vinita
-Remnants of WWII POW Camp, Alva
-Grady County Historical Society Museum, Chickasha
-Arkansas River Valley Archaeological Sites Associated with Spiro Mounds, Spiro
Since 1993, Preservation Oklahoma has recognized historic sites across the state at risk of demolition or deterioration, raising awareness of the need to protect Oklahoma’s historic resources. While inclusion on the list does not guarantee protection or funding, it can be a key component in mobilizing support for the preservation of historic sites.
“I’m so happy with this year’s most endangered places and proud of the work that Preservation Oklahoma does to bring attention to these incredible resources,” says POK Board President Tori Raines. “It’s also really gratifying when properties that have previously been on this list end up being saved, and I really do credit the list itself and attention it generates with being a small part of that.”
