The U.S. Department of State over the weekend issued a worldwide security alert to warn Americans to be cautious about threats from groups linked to Iran.

“The Department of State advises Americans worldwide, and especially in the Middle East, to exercise increased caution. Americans abroad should follow the guidance in security alerts issued by the nearest U.S. embassy or consulate,” the department said in a statement.

This statement comes just two days after Iranian Brigadier General Abolfazl Shekarchi warned that U.S. and Israeli officials wouldn’t be safe following strikes that wiped out Iran’s leadership, including former Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei.

“From now on, based on the information we have about you, even parks, recreational areas and tourist destinations anywhere in the world will no longer be safe for you,” Shekarchi said on Iranian state television.

The U.S. and Israel last month conducted joint strikes on Iran last month due to concerns that the Middle Eastern country had missiles.

Iran retaliated and other countries have been hit as a result.

“Periodic airspace closures may cause travel disruptions. U.S. diplomatic facilities, including outside the Middle East, have been targeted,” the department’s statement reads.

On Monday, President Donald Trump announced that he ordered the Department of War to postpone strikes on Iran’s power plants for five days.

President Trump wrote on TRUTH SOCIAL:

I AM PLEASED TO REPORT THAT THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA, AND THE COUNTRY OF IRAN, HAVE HAD, OVER THE LAST TWO DAYS, VERY GOOD AND PRODUCTIVE CONVERSATIONS REGARDING A COMPLETE AND TOTAL RESOLUTION OF OUR HOSTILITIES IN THE MIDDLE EAST. BASED ON THE TENOR AND TONE OF THESE IN DEPTH, DETAILED, AND CONSTRUCTIVE CONVERSATIONS, WHICH WILL CONTINUE THROUGHOUT THE WEEK, I HAVE INSTRUCTED THE DEPARTMENT OF WAR TO POSTPONE ANY AND ALL MILITARY STRIKES AGAINST IRANIAN POWER PLANTS AND ENERGY INFRASTRUCTURE FOR A FIVE DAY PERIOD, SUBJECT TO THE SUCCESS OF THE ONGOING MEETINGS AND DISCUSSIONS. THANK YOU FOR YOUR ATTENTION TO THIS MATTER! PRESIDENT DONALD J. TRUMP
